Career discovery in Germany
A week in companies in Wiesloch, praised by the local press
Eleven students from Guadeloupe, aged 15 and 16, lived a week of professional and family immersion in Wiesloch, hosted by families of the Ottheinrich-Gymnasium: an experience reported by the local press on 2 July 2025.
The project
After a German breakfast with the school’s advanced French class, the group followed a historical tour of the old town led by the city archivist, then was received at the town hall by the mayor, interviewed by three students on the labour market and urban development.
From Tuesday to Thursday, work placements: Physiovital physiotherapy practice in Rauenberg, Wiesloch city administration, fire brigade, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, Armolan Europe, Wamser dental practice in Walldorf, Maria-Sibylla-Merian and Schillerschule primary schools, EnBW power plant in Heilbronn, Florapark in Wiesloch.
On Friday, evaluation of the placements with the Bundesagentur für Arbeit and a workshop on European citizenship, then a concluding trip to Heidelberg castle. Earlier, the German school had been hosted in Guadeloupe from 2 to 6 June 2025 around heritage: exhibition “May: portraits of our memory”, cultural evening, memorial outing to the MACTE.
Eleven students prepared their week of professional discovery with the Ottheinrich-Gymnasium: exchanges, preparation of the work placements and of the bilingual logbook.
