Ten days of observation at Sir M. Refalo Sixth Form
An individual observation mobility in the heart of the Mediterranean: twelve subjects observed, from history to “systems of knowledge”, and future mobilities pre-arranged with the Maltese partner.
The project
Five days in the school: observations in history, geography, economics, mathematics, life sciences, physical sciences, chemistry, English, Spanish, home economics, systems of knowledge, psychology, sociology and theatre.
Interactions with all colleagues, the administration and laboratory technicians; intense linguistic practice in English; debriefing to school colleagues by email and WhatsApp and publication on the school website.
Perspectives: taking students on five-week long mobilities, combining job shadowing with teaching assignments, and considering a group mobility within hosting budget constraints.

In detail
- Observation mobility from 9 to 19 May 2025 (10 days of which 5 in the school), after the “Managing one’s time” group mobility from 4 to 14 April 2025.
- Partner found late: the Sir M. A. Refalo Sixth Form; very fluid exchanges afterwards and a schedule organised upstream.
- Job shadowing across all subjects: history, geography, economics, mathematics, life and earth sciences, physical sciences, chemistry, English, Spanish, home economics, systems of knowledge, psychology, sociology and theatre.
- Interactions with all colleagues, the administration and the laboratory technicians; accommodation in a shared flat in the city centre, a 15-minute walk from the school.
- Pedagogical continuity ensured remotely: marking of papers and grand oral audio recordings received electronically during the stay, then follow-up in class.
Crossed perspectives
From 9 to 19 May 2025, the job-shadowing mobility allowed staff to compare school governance and student support, with headteacher D. Yoyotte and the ERAEI team.
Results and follow-up
Individual objectives 100% achieved, future mobilities accepted and pre-arranged with the Maltese partner.
