Concierge service in Denmark
“Mutual help is the key”: a Danish idea turned into a school service
The “Concierge service” project transposes to Lycée Yves Leborgne the Danish art of living observed in Vedersø: well-being, shared chores and solidarity. STMG students found a real-life field of application for management and business studies.
The project
One week at The International Academy: class observation, sports activities (tumbling, trampoline, dance, karaoke), Danish Easter celebrations: tasting, egg decorating and egg hunt, e-sports, then a visit of Copenhagen: canal cruise, museum of illusions, changing of the guard at Amalienborg castle, Rosenborg castle.
Staff studied how well-being is handled: the “teacher mum” looks after students’ health, mental health is everyone’s business, screens are limited to a few moments of the day and students take part in preparing meals.
Back home, the students created the school concierge service: events, agendas, mutual-help services between students, with a dedicated email address and registration forms: a social and solidarity-based activity putting management and entrepreneurship into practice.
The STMG students transposed to the school the services observed in Denmark: after months of hybrid workshops with the Vedersø efterskole, they designed an internal concierge service for the school.

- April 2025: a new “Conciergerie” group mobility to Denmark (4 to 14 April), a direct continuation of the 2024 investigative journal.
- The concierge-service project draws on Danish shared chores: participatory cleaning of premises, help at the canteen, care of one’s living space; it involves the STMG stream, the student representatives and the “business” teaching.
- Two new long individual student mobilities, of five weeks, are scheduled for 2025-2026.
Crossed perspectives
A week of boarding immersion, completed by two days in the capital, which fed the STMG students’ reflection on services, hospitality and wellbeing: the Danish art of living observed in Vedersø became a concierge project at the school.
Results and follow-up
Travel journal developing written expression, a lasting social and solidarity-based activity, and reflection on the place of mobile phones and mixed activities at school.
